It will be a longer road to recovery but Ke-ola will get there

Ke-ola's night was similar to his previous nights but he seems much more comfortable sleeping on the daybed. He ate his breakfast and spent time outside. Most of the morning was spent on his bed covered with a blanket because he was shaking. I placed my hands on him as my son played the piano from the other room. We hoped it would help lift his spirits before his appointment at Pet Hospital.

from his beautiful nurse
at Pet Hospital.
It was quite an undertaking as I booked 2 appointments back to back with a dog that's in quarantine. (One of my girls is also feeling sick and her vet hasn't been able to find the problem. I wanted her to see Dr. Wiatt before she got worse) I enlisted the help of my family and between the four of us and the two cars we were able to pull it off.

Ke-ola had his chest Xray and we found that his lungs aren't clearing as we had hoped. He is on two new antibiotics and had a testosterone shot. We are hoping that with this combination of antibiotics we can help him clear his lungs and finally get rid of the infection. We'll be adding saline steam baths as well. The road to health seems to keep getting longer but I have faith it will make us all stronger in the end. It is a scary time but Ke-ola has a strong spirit and has many people rooting and praying for him.

Ke-ola is warm at last! Thank you
Auntie Kym! You're the best!
Just today he was blessed by his very own fairy godmother, Kym Cloughesy, bringing the gift of love and warmth. Ke-ola has a new jacket and sweater! And as if by Divine Inspiration they were just in time for the cold rain that is falling outside as I write. Thank you so very much Kym! You are an angel!

The animal community is an amazing network of people. I've been following rescue and shelter dog posts for a while. I try to do what I can, share, pledge, network to rescues, etc. On all these threads I'd see someone at some point post "Let's get together village and help this dog" in a comment. I thought I understood the meaning but now with Ke-ola, I realize I didn't have a clue as to the power, commitment and compassion that is generated by people working to save animals. I have received emails, messages, and calls inquiring about Ke-ola's health and sending him well wishes. People I have never met offer valuable advice, positive thoughts and prayers, all because they care about a little dog they have never met but love anyways. Thank you Donna Hirtriter from Indian Dane Rescue for sharing your experience and so much positive support. Ke-ola is blessed to have so many wonderful souls in his corner.

Thank you. We are grateful to each person near and far that has given Ke-ola a piece of their hearts. “Love conquers all things.” ~ Virgil
