Dandelion - Quick Reference

Symbolism: Dandelion teaches the ability to regenerate from our roots. Their ability to thrive under the most adverse conditions teaches us persistence and survival.
Dandelions stand for wishes coming true. The dozens of seeds released by each flower head represent fertility and abundance. The seeds' journey illustrates a time of letting go of the past and of hope for the new. It also symbolize faithfulness and happiness, affection returned, desire, sympathy, Oracle of Time and Love. 


Medicinal: Dandelion is a rich source of vitamins and minerals. The leaves have a high content of vitamin A as well as moderate amounts of vitamin D, vitamin C, various B vitamins, iron, silicon, magnesium, zinc, and manganese. In external uses the fresh juice of dandelion is applied externally to fight bacteria and help heal wounds. The plant has an antibacterial action. The latex contained in the plant sap can be used to remove corns and warts.
